Awardees
Ryan Bell
Tenant Organizer
Ryan has been involved in organizing housing justice and other social justice campaigns in Los Angeles, Pasadena, and the San Gabriel Valley for the past 17 years. In 2014, he wrote a blog documenting his journey, A Year Without God.
Today Ryan supports almost 30 Southern California member organizations with Tenants Together, a state-wide coalition of tenant groups dedicated to defending and advancing the rights of California tenants to safe, decent, and affordable housing.
We'll recognize Ryan for his statewide advocacy towards tenant rights, housing justice, and social justice while demonstrating the values of secular humanism.

Sen. Nancy Skinner
CA Senator from District 9
A social justice advocate, clean energy and climate change trailblazer and accomplished legislator, Sen. Nancy Skinner was first elected to the state Senate in 2016 after completing three terms in the state Assembly.
She currently serves as chair of the Senateโs Budget and Fiscal Review Committee and of the California Legislative Womenโs Caucus.
We'll be recognizing Nancy for her history of activism and policy in criminal justice, income equality, environmental preservation, and healthcare access (including gender-affirming care).

Scholarship Winners
In the early afternoon, we will be recognizing this year's scholarship winners and invite them to present their work.
Lindsey Olagundoye
#ScholarshipHaiku Winner
Lindsey is a second-year Physics major at Sacramento City College and one of six winners in this year's #ScholarshipHaiku contest.
They have aspirations of becoming an astrophysicist in the future. Lindsey enjoys reading books and playing video games and also has strong beliefs in equality and activism.
